A World Inside the World

In A World Inside the World you will run one of 4 prestigious theatre houses in pre-Shakespearean England and vie for applause while competing against neighboring theatres. You will recruit actors and compose plays while hoping to pay your bills on time. If you don’t get an audience, your actors will leave for better employment elsewhere.

A World Inside the World uses the drafting mechanic to recruit actors to your hand. These actors will require payment whether or not they play in your latest showing. If you are unable to pay their salaries the actors will be laid off and placed in the discard pile. Actors have stats on the left hand side of the cards and each time they perform in a play will level up. This causes the actors to cost more next season while also causing them to give you bigger bonuses.

Each player is competing for points in four different categories. Will your theatre be putting on a Comedy, Romance, Tragedy, or War play? Some playscripts combine types allowing you to place in multiple categories. Your actor cards have one or more of these symbols as well as a candle symbol which is required in varying amounts to light the stage. After deciding which actors to send to the stage, as leads and minor roles, you tally up how many symbols you have in the category you are competing for. If you have more of that symbol than your opponents the audience will flock to your stage.
